ECHO ART FAIR CALLS FOR SITE-SPECIFIC ART PROPOSALS
Acclaimed art fair seeks visual art, theatre and sound performance
February 3, 2012—New York, NY—echo Art Fair [www.echoartfair.com] announces a separate call for artists to present at the second annual echo Art Fair, taking place July 7 and 8, 2012 at The Larkin Center of Commerce, 701 Seneca Street, in Buffalo, NY.
The organizers of echo Art Fair seek site- and event-specific projects, including visual media and design works, temporary installations, temporary architectural interventions, time-based media, musical presentations, dance, movement art, theatre, and sound performance. Interactive concepts are encouraged.
echo Art Fair highlights the vitality of the fine art community working throughout Buffalo and the region. It is a juried fine art fair showcasing a broad array of fine art disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture, prints, works on paper, video and mixed media, which will be offered for viewing and sale during the event.
This call for proposals operates outside of the juried art fair; fair producers and advisors will review the proposals. None of the selected performances or installations shall be offered for sale, nor shall presenters solicit on-site compensation.
Says echo Art Fair co-producer Frits Abell, “We are accepting ideas from artists and performers working in all creative disciplines. echo Art Fair will partner with these artists to add innovative elements to the fair.
“Partnership with this event is a perfect ‘stage’ for both established and emerging artists and arts groups,” adds Abell. “The work will be seen by an active, creative, and engaged audience of regionally and internationally based individuals, collectors, and art industry VIPs.”
echo Art Fair will provide the venue, and promote the accepted artists, performers and/or groups through all available media and promotional channels, including press releases, website, Facebook, and collateral materials.
All costs involved with presentation, art installation, de-installation, performance, and/or supplies, are the responsibility of the artist or performer.
Accepted participants will receive complimentary tickets to echo Art Fair’s VIP event, taking place prior to the fair opening, where they may present to this audience as well.
Art in all mediums will be considered. Proposed installations and concepts should be suitable for The Larkin Center of Commerce, the site of the fair (or off-site Larkin District locations, to be announced). Installations and/or performances must be: a) flexible to the space requirements, b) minimally invasive, and c) leave the space in the same condition in which it was found.
The deadline for submission proposals is April 2, 2012. Concept proposals should be sent to echoartfair@gmail.com. All proposals should contain “echo Art Fair site proposal_Your Name” in the subject line. Proposals may include a one-page description of the project, a brief bio of the performer/artist/group, and no more than three images (JPG, 3 MB or less), or a one-minute digital sample of the work (maximum 20MB).
